  Caffe Mingo was an overall fabulous dining experience. My mother was in town visiting from San Diego and had this place recommended to her by a client. The ambiance was small and intimate with fabulous choices of homemade pastas and other Italian dishes. My sister got the beef pasta and said the beef itself was to die for and could tell the quality of the beef. I myself had the eggplant spaghetti which was fabulous and light! We all shared a bottle of wine and the wine choice was very nice. The wine list was not too extensive and the waiter helped us pick out a wonderful Pinot noir! The wait staff was kind and attentive. Would recommend this place to anyone visiting Portland!

  The atmosphere was quant; however the food was hit and miss. And they only serve wine and beer.

  This place has some pretty amazing Italian food! Whew!! Definitely leaving satisfied and full.
  
  Got the Sugo di Carne aka Braised Beef Penne Pasta. Super dish. Very tender meat, perfectly cooked pasta, and the full size portion was perfect for me.
  
  Also got the Insalata Mingo, the cousin of Cesar Salad. Has fresh romaine with croutons and a light oil and vinegar dressing. Loved it. Perfect salad before pasta.
  
  Finished the dinner with Caramel Pane Cotta. Well balanced desert with the berries, whip cream and the caramel pudding. Super good.
  
  Service was also on point. All the servers were very attentive and friendly.

  Stuffy service, minuscule portions for the price, very disappointing experience overall.  Will not return.  1 Star for outdoor seating with no smokers.

  Caffe Mingo definitely exceeded my expectations! I'm not a huge Italian food fan, I like it but it's not my go to. I would argue Cafe Mingo changed that ever so slightly.
  
  We went for our annual Valentine's Day dinner with our best friends. We all decide to do the chef's tasting menu, which I might add is the best tasting menu I have ever had for the money. It was $55 each for 5 courses (app, salad, pasta, meat and dessert). The amount of food we got to feed 4 people was crazy! I would have paid $75-$80 for that tasting menu. Well worth the cost and we left stuffed to the gills!
  
  We were immediately brought water, really good rustic bread with olive oil (which was kept filled the entire night) and our drink order was taken. We opted to go with a bottle of Sokol Blosser Pinot for dinner, which ultimately turned in to two bottles. It went great with every course.
  
  The tasting menu changes and is ultimately whatever the chef decides to make. Some of what we had was on the menu, and some was not and made specifically for us. When I also say 5 courses that does not count the extra 2 courses they brought out. They brought an initial appetizer before the actual appetizer came. There was also a "pallet cleanser" between the past and meat dishes. I should also mention there were 2 pasta dishes that came out with the pasta course, and 2 desserts with the final course.
  
  This is a long review, so I'm not going to review each individual dish. I will say they were all amazing and cooked to perfection. The pasta dishes were probably my favorite, which was surprising with me not being a big pasta guy.
  
  To close this thing up I will just end with, go to Caffe Mingo and order the chef tasting menu. I would also argue you won't go wrong ordering something off the regular menu. Great service, great food, and great atmosphere!
  
  Lastly to our server, thank you for the extra glass of wine you poured that you didn't charge us for!
